While cycle-touring around Europe in the late 80s, I saw an old Italian woman riding in a gentle rain - not that noteworthy. What was noteworthy was that she kept herself dry with an umbrella she clutched in her left hand. I thought this was a great idea. At least when there's little or no wind.
Since then I've ridden many times with an umbrella. It's a little challenging to do while shifting and braking. Consequently, I have always thought that someday I'd figure out a way to attach an umbrella to the bicycle. Well, thanks to Dutch ingenuity, I don't have to!
Now a company in Amsterdam - Drycycle - is making an umbrella attachment for bicycles! Thanks Drycycle... I know what I want for my birthday!
